Highways Information from Norfolk County Council – Broadland Northway

Broadland Northway – maintenance and safety improvement works

Works will begin on Monday 27 January 2020 to carry out repairs to the signing and kerbing on the central island of the Airport Roundabout. The roundabout will remain open at all times however lane closures will be necessary for the work to be carried out safely and swiftly.

To minimise disruption additional planting and safety barrier work will take place at the same time. The works at the Airport Roundabout are expected to be complete by Friday 31 January.

The team will then move to Wroxham Road Roundabout to carry out repair works and some safety improvements. This work will be done over two weekends – Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 February, and Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 February. The roundabout will remain open at all times however some lane closures will be necessary.

Lane closures (off peak) will also be in place over various sections of Broadland Northway between North Walsham Roundabout and Business Park Roundabout to allow other sign replacements to be carried out.

These works follow the recent repairs to the central reserve safety barrier and all the work is expected to be complete by Friday 14 February, weather permitting.

The safety improvements, including the additional planting at Airport and Wroxham Roundabouts and additional chevron signing at Wroxham and North Walsham Roundabouts are being carried out as recommended in the safety audit, published in autumn 2019.

Drivers are advised they may need to allow extra time for their journeys when the lane closures are in place. The County Council thanks people for their patience while this maintenance and safety work is carried out.

The work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
